How To Make Money On Craigslist Reddit

Does anyone flip full time solely on Craigslist?

This is probably more feasible in major metro areas, but I was wondering if any of you actually sell only on Craigslist AND make a full time living off of it?

I've focused a lot of time flipping used furniture on Craigslist the past three weeks. It's made a lot of money, but it also has been miserable. People suck. Facebook groups and Craigslist are a painful experience probably 80% of the time. Low ballers, people that say they can meet and don't show up, and people that get ahold of you 6 times and then never respond. I consistently have about 3 people flake out on an each item. I have just been trying to stay more positive and accepting about it instead of getting annoyed. So you may think someone will be picking up something Monday and then Thursday it's still sitting there. My experience is that if I didn't get everything I've been selling on Craigslist for free, then I wouldn't be doing this. It's just extremely nice selling a free item and getting cash for it. Cash is king.

Can confirm, facebook groups are full of flakey buyers, and I wouldn't hold an empty Altoids tin for my own mother anymore either.

There probably are some, but I agree with others that it doesn't make much sense to limit oneself. I've also noticed that now there are quite a few new apps that are competing with craigslist. OfferUp is one that I have used and sold some stuff through. It's much quicker and easier to get a listing up on there versus Craigslist. Personally I've had more luck recently with OfferUp versus Craigslist or Facebook groups. I had heard a lot of people talking about selling stuff quick on Facebook groups, but it seems a lot of people just want to really lowball or just want to buy certain items like cell phones. There are lowballers on Offerup too and people that want to trade and stuff, but I've still had people come through and buy stuff. I think it's worth trying different platforms though to see what works. Pretty much all of them are free.

I also use OfferUp but the only problem I encountered is you can only submit one picture. I hope they are going to update it so we can at least submit three pics

I had a friend who used to flip full-time on craigslist. This was before GameStop started selling iPhones. He got a lot of scam calls, caused a lot of bad attention to himself from other resellers as well. It's best not to post your phone number at every listing and stay in the shadows.

I knew a guy in Portland who was doing this with beds. Beds are cheap/free to come by, and a lot of people need cheap used beds. Thrift stores/goodwill won't take them (illegal) and he was making some good ching just picking them up off CL, making sets and selling them back on CL with better looking pictures. Also, repeat business.

Furniture could be a good gig too if you have the space, especially in a college town or one with a transient population. Lots of people get desperate to get rid of stuff when they leave but are willing to pay when they come to town.

level 2

Bed bugs are a real threat though. I don't even mess with used couches if I can help it.

I think I read a blog somewhere, maybe in the sidebar, of a guy who did this by picking up free appliances, fixing them, and selling them. Would require a lot of space. Washers and dryers aren't that difficult to fix. I've fixed both of those myself, and I'm a girl. My issue would be that I don't have the space, a truck, or a dolly/hand truck.

level 2

Yes I've heard of a guy that does that..I'm not sure if it's the same person. There are likely several people that do this. I spoke to one guy on here that was doing well with it. Sounded like he was doing quite well. It sounded like a lot of work , but good money. He actually used another site that was more popular than craigs in his market.

level 2

Yeah, the site is: http://recraigslist.com/

He now has a course out that you can pay for and apparently shows you the full process. I genuinely have no idea if it has been well received or not, I don't know anyone who has purchased it, so I can't give an opinion either way.

His older posts on that blog are very good though, worth the read.

Care to give a few tips on a squeaky dryer? Loud, high pitch.

Why would you ONLY sell anywhere? There are things that sell really well in each individual venue.

level 2

Well, really I was just curious if anyone did it. Not why they would do it. Perhaps they just really really like Craigslist or maybe they're stupid. The why of it is beyond scope.

level 1

My father do. Swap meets and craigslist, why? He hates shipping lol

level 2

He obviously likes cash in his hand too. I know people who strictly sell on craigslist and at flea markets, and it is because they love having that pile of cash hit their hand.
